7. Children's Harvest (must be at least 16 to volunteer)

Children's Harvest sites provide free, prepared food as well as homework assistance to hungry children. Volunteers are needed to help with homework assistance, arts & crafts projects, mentoring, and other activities. Children's Harvest volunteers will need to work out a schedule with Golden Harvest's volunteer coordinator. Help is also needed in monitoring these sites (training will be provided by Golden Harvest). We have several sites throughout our service area.

6. Shopping Area (must be at least 13 to volunteer)

At our Augusta, Aiken, and Upstate warehouses, we have a shopping area where partner agencies come to stock up their food pantries, soup kitchens, and other feeding programs. Volunteers are needed to help stock, as well as work the front desk process the agencies coming in. This is a good opportunity to meet the people who are on the front lines, serving the hungry in our area.

5. Master's Soup Kitchen

The Master's Table is open 7 days a week, 365 a year to serve lunch. Volunteer teams are needed to sponsor days and individuals are needed as fill-ins. Volunteers prepare and serve food for an average of 260 meals a day. The hours are 8 am to 1:30 pm. Serving time is 11 am to 12:30 pm. The calendar for the soup kitchn is done annually and fills up QUICKLY! If you would like to volunteer contact Soup Kitchen Manager, Shirley Thomas at 706-722-0607 or slthomas@goldenharvest.org.

4. Service Saturday Team Building

If you have ever considered involving your staff in a team building exercise, call Golden Harvest Food Bank! Your staff can unite in purposeful work, as they get to know each other outside the office. The program involves hands-on activity and a short presentation about the food bank itself. Team Building is available Saturday in shifts of 9 am-12 pm or 1-4 pm or Tuesday and Thursday from 5-8 pm Faith Food Factory.

3. Special Events

Volunteers are needed to help plan and expedite events through out the year like Taste of the Harvest (Thoroughbred Country in November, Augusta in April) Empty Bowl, National Association of Letter Carrier's Food Drive, Souper Bowl of Caring, Hunger for Life, and Caring Rose Week. Responsibilities and commitment vary according to the event.

2. Administrative Help

Tasks include: compiling mailings, spreadsheet work, and database updating. Help is needed at our Commerce Drive location and the Aiken Warehouse. If you would like to schedule a time to volunteer in our offices please coordinate a time in advance with our volunteer coordinator.

1. Warehouse Activities

This is where we sort incoming non-perishable canned goods.

Aiken site help is needed Monday through Thursday 7am-5 pm (closed 12-1 for lunch) and Friday 8am -12 pm.
Groups over 5 can schedule additional hours in advance.

Upstate site Monday or Friday between 10:30 am-2:30 pm for training and orientation

Faith Food Factory is Golden Harvest's product rescue warehouse. Currently, the office hours for the Faith Food Factory are Monday and Wednesday 8am-5pm, Tuesday & Thursday 9am-8pm and Saturday 9am-4pm. Individual and groups are welcome during this time. If you are interested in volunteering please coordinate a time in advance with our volunteer coordinator.

Groups of 10-15 can also schedule a shift on Saturday. The morning shift is from 9 am-12 pm and the afternoon shift is from 1pm-4pm. It is recommended that you call at least 2-3 weeks ahead of time to schedule a Saturday shift.
