County Coverage Map
In July 2007, America's Second Harvest added five upstate South Carolina Counties, Abbeville, Anderson, Greenwood, Pickens, and Oconee - to Golden Harvest's service area. With this expansion, the poverty population in Golden Harvest's region has increased by approximately 62, 000 individuals. We must distribute 1.6 million pounds of grocery products to those counties by the end of FY08 to meet America's Second Harvest guidelines.
To that end, Golden Harvest already recruited 43 new member agencies in the Upstate, and in January, opened the Upstate Distribution Center just north of Anderson in Liberty. The new center serves as as central hub for the Food Bank's service to Anderson, Pickens, and Oconee counties.
